In Matthew, the sixth chapter, Jesus speaks about not being worried about life. In verse 25-27 he gives the analogy of the birds and how well they are taken care of. Comparing their value with man, he did the same with the lilies. The lord tells us that he is responsible for our needs, what to eat, drink and wear. He is our father and he is very much aware of our need.
The life that the Lord has called us into as believers is one of dependence on Him. It is one that recognizes the Lord as all and sufficient. It is a life that takes our focus from survival to dependence. Jesus speaking to the people in Matthew explains this clearly, he gives the illustration of how the birds live, they do not live independent of God’s provision. The lord takes care of them.
We might argue that the lord expects us to be responsible and work, he does. Only that he expects us to do so in a completely different manner. You see, as believers we ought to live differently, we must approach life differently. In being responsible whilst I live life as in Genesis 2:15, I must understand why and who it is unto. I do not work for my sustenance, I do not work for myself. Understanding this and walking in this consciousness would save us from worry. If I do not work for sustenance, how then am I supposed to survive?
Taking cue from the same Matthew 6, Jesus in telling the people to not worry for their lives, paints the picture of the lord taking full responsibility for us. The lord God, our source. The one who gives bread to the eater and seed to the sower. The source of all things, including my everyday need, a responsible father. We must live in this world with this understanding, God is responsible for me, God is responsible for my every need, he is my source, all that I have comes from Him. He gives me my harvest, not skill or effort, those are important, but without Him who is the source of all things, there will be no harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).
It’s simple, the lord takes care of our need so we can keep our eyes on him. We must move from a people who are worried about the things the lord has settled to a people who live eager to stay aligned and be channels of God’s blessings.

Gleanings from Acts 20–28
One major lesson I gleaned is Paul’s unwavering passion for preaching the Gospel regardless of his circumstances. Despite opposition, trials, and imprisonment, he remained committed to his God-given assignment. I also learnt that a genuine encounter with the Lord leads to effecti
