Matthew 1-15
My Journey through the gospels

I began reading Matthew expecting to learn about Jesus. I also learnt so much about God's faithfulness of God. It started in the first two chapters, with a detail that stayed with me: God's word coming to pass even after hundreds of years (Matthew 2:15, 18, 23). Years had gone by, and not one word was forgotten. The details, the events... God orchestrated the whole process just to bring His word to pass. Jesus' emotions as a human were never hidden. When He was hungry, it was mentioned. When He was sleeping, it was mentioned too.
A Perfect Father, Found in Secret In Matthew 5, I met a God who is perfect. Verse 45 says He makes the sun shine on the just and the unjust, and sends rain on both. The chapter then calls us to be perfect as children of this Father (verse 48).
Where Your Treasure Is Matthew 6 stopped me with a simple truth: wherever you lay your treasure, there your heart will be. What I constantly feed on will eventually show in the state of my heart. It made me ask what I have been feeding on lately.
The Posture of Action Matthew 7:7-8 challenged me the most. Every time I ask, I receive. Every time I seek, I find God. Every time I knock, the door opens. If I have not received, found, or had a door opened, the reason is not God. It is that I have not taken the posture of action. I also learnt that I will receive as much as my faith can take. My unbelief and my familiarity with God can hinder His mighty works in my life.
Let Your Light Draw People In Matthew 14:13, I saw that people do not leave what actually works. If you are truly a light, people will come after you and seek you out. I also noticed again that Jesus made time to be alone and pray in secret to the Father. If Jesus, as a man, needed that time with the Father, how much more do I? This brought me back to pastor's message about how fear can make people hold back in giving. The same thing happened to Peter. He was walking on water until he considered the storm around him.
Giving My Little Then came Matthew 15, with a promise I am holding onto: if I give my little to God, He will bless it and satisfy me. That is my journey through these chapters so far: a God who keeps His word, a Father who is found in secret, and a invitation to ask, seek, knock, and living well before God.

The Healing of the Soul
The intensity of the light or the loudness of the sound makes no difference to the blind or deaf; the eyes and ears must first be healed.
